The Ductile Iron Foot Valve is installed at the submerged end of a pump suction pipe — the “foot” of the pipe. It serves two critical functions: First, a stainless steel strainer basket prevents rocks, fish, leaves, and other debris from entering the pump. Second, an integrated check valve (typically a hinged disc or poppet) allows flow only toward the pump. When the pump stops, the check valve closes, trapping water inside the suction pipe. This “holds the prime” — meaning the pump doesn’t need to be refilled with water before restarting. Without a foot valve, centrifugal pumps would lose prime and run dry, damaging seals and impellers. The foot valve is designed for vertical mounting with the strainer pointing downward.
Heavy-Duty Strainer: Perforated SS304 sheet (3mm holes) resists damage from large debris.
Low Pressure Drop: Large flow area between strainer holes and valve disc.
Multiple Disc Options: Rubber seated for zero leakage or metal seated for abrasives.
Easy Cleaning: Strainer can be removed for cleaning without unbolting valve from pipe.
Quick Lead Time: Standard sizes (DN50-DN400) available in 15 days.
