The Forged Carbon Steel Threaded Olet (also called a branch outlet or welding boss) is a high pressure fitting used to create a threaded branch connection from a main pipe without using a threaded tee. The olet has a curved base that matches the outside diameter of the run pipe. The base is welded to the run pipe (full penetration weld). The olet extends outward and has a female NPT or BSP thread for connecting a threaded branch pipe, valve, or instrument. This design is much stronger than drilling and tapping a pipe directly because the olet provides reinforced thickness at the branch junction. Threaded olets are rated Class 3000 or Class 6000 and are forged from ASTM A105 carbon steel. They are the preferred method for high pressure branch connections in oil, gas, and chemical service.
Stronger Than Direct Tapping: Reinforced boss provides full pressure rating.
No Threaded Tee Required: Olet welds directly to run pipe — lower material cost.
Full Penetration Weld Design: Weld bevel on base for code-compliant installation.
Material Certificates: EN 10204 3.1 available.
Size on Size or Reducing: Branch can be same size or smaller than run.
