The Forged Carbon Steel Hex Plug (also called a solid plug or pipe plug) is a male threaded fitting used to seal a female threaded port. The plug is forged from ASTM A105 carbon steel and has a hex head for wrench tightening. The threads are tapered NPT or BSP — as the plug is tightened, the threads wedge together, creating a pressure-tight seal (supplemented with PTFE tape or pipe dope). Hex plugs are used to close unused ports on valves, manifolds, pumps, and equipment. Unlike welded caps, hex plugs can be removed for future use. Class 3000 and Class 6000 ratings are available for high pressure service. For lower pressure applications, Class 2000 plugs are also available.
Hex Head Standard: Easy installation and removal.
Full Thread Length: Threads to full depth for maximum engagement.
Class 6000 Available: For the most demanding high pressure systems.
Zinc Plated: Standard corrosion protection.
Stocked Sizes: 1/8″ to 2″ available for immediate shipment.
