The Forged Carbon Steel Threaded Elbow is a high pressure pipe fitting used to change flow direction by 45° or 90° in small bore piping systems (typically 1/8″ to 4″). Unlike cast fittings, these are forged from solid carbon steel billet (ASTM A105) — a process that aligns the grain structure and eliminates internal porosity, resulting in significantly higher strength and pressure rating. The fitting has female NPT or BSP threads on both ends. The threads are tapered, meaning they seal by thread interference (typically supplemented with PTFE tape or pipe dope). The fitting is rated Class 3000 or Class 6000, suitable for hydraulic systems, high pressure steam, instrument air, and chemical injection lines. A beveled thread entry reduces the risk of cross-threading during installation. The fitting is available with a zinc plated (corrosion resistant) or black (as forged) finish.
Forged vs. Cast: Forged A105 has no porosity — passes hydro test to 2x rated pressure.
Material Traceability: Heat number stamped on each fitting (available upon request).
Threads Inspected: GO/NOGO gauge inspection on every thread set.
Full Range of Sizes: 1/8″ – 4″ NPT or BSP — we stock all.
Quick Lead Time: Standard sizes available for immediate shipment.
