The Stainless Steel Concentric Reducer is a butt weld fitting used to transition between two different pipe sizes while maintaining a common centerline. The reducer has a symmetrical taper — the center of the larger pipe aligns perfectly with the center of the smaller pipe. This fitting is intended for vertical pipelines. (For horizontal liquid lines where air pockets must be avoided, an eccentric reducer with flat top is used instead.) The fitting is manufactured from ASTM A403 stainless steel — WP304/304L or WP316/316L. The internal surface is smooth with no abrupt steps, which is critical in sanitary and pharmaceutical applications where bacteria could otherwise accumulate in crevices. Both ends are beveled per ASME B16.25.
