The Carbon Steel Reducing Tee (also called a taper tee or branch tee) is a three-port butt weld fitting where the branch opening is smaller than the main run openings. This fitting eliminates the need to weld a separate reducer to a standard equal tee — a single reducing tee does both jobs. The reduction at the branch is integrally forged or machined into the fitting. The intersection is reinforced with extra wall thickness to handle stress concentration. The fitting is manufactured from carbon steel to ASTM A234 WPB. All three ends are beveled per ASME B16.25. Reducing tees are commonly used to branch from a main header to smaller service lines, instrument connections, or drain lines.
One Fitting, Two Functions: Tee connection + size reduction — fewer welds, lower cost.
Smooth Flow Transition: Gradual reduction at branch — less turbulence.
Full Pressure Rating: Branch rated for same pressure as run.
Any Combination Available: Run 24″ x Branch 2″ — we can make it.
Quick Lead Time: Standard reducing tees in 20 days.
